Yes, I run small group workshops and 1:1 sessions on demand in my home studio in Birch Vale.  I advertise any that I am running in other venues that have places available on my Events or ‘where to find me’ page.  If you wish to book a place on a workshop or buy a voucher for someone else, all you need to do is purchase a gift voucher and choose the option you wish to take up and I will contact you or them to arrange a mutually convenient time.  

If it is a small group workshop, I will look for others who have purchased a voucher too and are waiting to be matched up.  I only need between 2 and 4 to run a workshop so if you have a friend that would like to come along, then I can be more flexible with dates.

Yes, I am happy to undertake commission from small ornaments to medium sized windows.  Let’s chat about your ideas and we can come up with something special together, whether it be for a gift or something for your home.  Please feel free to take a look at my gallery of work.

That entirely depends on a few factors such as the complexity of the design of the piece I create which determines the amount of time spent, the materials, etc.  However, if you have a specific budget in mind I am usually able to come up with something that fits the brief within this.  I never go ahead with a project without your express confirmation that your happy with what I suggest.  We will work together to make sure you know exactly what we are aiming to achieve.

Small group workshops in my home studio are £110 per person which includes all materials you need to create a fabulous stained glass ornament to take home.

1:1 workshops are £205 where you will be able to create something a little more adventurous if you wish.

If I run a workshop in another venue, it depends on the cost of travel and space hire.

Yes I do and you can see examples of the ones I have complete in my ‘portraits of your beloved pets’ gallery.  These can be done as little ornaments, suncatchers, art panels or even windows!  Just send me a photograph and tell me what you would like. 

You even get brownie points if you share a photo later on with the pet and the piece I made!

Yes, I sell gift vouchers in my online shop.  They make great presents for workshop places or towards a commission piece.

Yes, I love to get out and about where I can meet potential clients and chat about my work.  You will find details of where I am on my ‘Events’ or ‘where to find me’ page on my website.  You will also find my work permanently in The Derbyshire Makers shop at Peak Village, Rowsley and the Keep It Local Yellow shop at The Potteries Shopping Centre in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent.  I’m always looking for new quality outlets for hand made crafts so if you have any ideas, please do speak to me.

Yes, I love to get out and about where I can meet potential clients and chat about my work.  I’ve done talks for groups and been involve in demonstrations at local exhibitions.  If you would like me to come and talk or do a demo feel free to have a chat.

The wonderful thing about stained glass is, it never fades.  If you need to give it a clean, if it is copper foiled use a soft cloth and some polish such as car wax, or even pledge and give it a gentle buff.  I like to use a soft shoe polishing brush to get in all the nooks and crannies if I need to. 

If your piece is leaded, such as a window or art panel then soapy water is good then black grate polish on a shoe brush will buff it up nicely and cover any oxidisation, bringing the glass up to a nice shine again.

Yes you can as long as you don’t put a hanging piece anywhere it can get knocked or blown down.  Remember, stained glass windows in homes and churches have stood the test of time for many years!

Yes it is fine to hand stained glass in a window.

They create beautiful colourful shadows when the sun shines on them and never fade unlike faux stained glass or resin.  I wouldn’t advise using crystals in south facing windows though.

Stained glass sun catchers look fabulous hung in a window.  When the light hits them, they come alive and create beautiful coloured shadows around the room.  Depending on the size, they are best hung on  a chain or ribbon from a nail or hook in the frame or ceiling but I often use a curtain rail too.  I wouldn’t advise using a suction  cup on the window as these tend to fail over time.

If you don’t have anywhere to hang an ornament then a plate or bauble display stand is just as good and means you can pop your stained glass piece on the window sill or even on a table.  Some of my ornaments come on a wooden plinth or have a wooden frame and look lovely displayed anywhere in the home.  I even create sculptural pieces that can be displayed outside in the garden.
